Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams was born on February 20th 1902 in San Francisco California son of Charles Hitchcock Adams and Olive Bray. In an after shock of the great earth quake he fell and broke his nose that physically scarred him for life. He never fit in well having his "Earth Quake nose" and may have been hyperactive. He was also dyslexic and had troubles in school graduating from Mrs. Kate M. Wilkins Private School which would be the equivalent to having completed the eighth grade. He originally was going to go into the music business but then ended up switching over to photography. His first camera was a Kodak No. 1 Box Brownie. He used this camera to take picture of Yosemite where he was a sierra club member and watched the lodge at the park. He met his wife there and they had two children. 1927 was when he took his first
famous monolith, the Face of Half Dome. He then met his insurance agent and after that another famous photographer, Edward Weston. These people helped launch his dream. Ansel
died April 22, 1984.

I chose this picture because i have tried time and time again to get this perfect shot. I have always loved how the light shines past the tree making it seem very dark and its surroundings lighter. He used an original black and white film camera which is nothing like my digital but i still would love to some day get this picture.
